The Really Realistic Animation (Patreon)

"Another late night of work for the animator. The patrons asked to see Samus, and Samus they'll get. The animator rubs his eyes. Perhaps he should've started on this project earlier in the day. Maybe he'll close his eyes for nary a second. But when he opens them, he will find that his animation has come to life like never before!"
Animation by Wanksy and sound by Laarel
This animation had a huge learning curve in adapting a scene for a different pov. With SFM, when you have a different camera angle it can mean redoing every single light to get a similar effect that is believable. And let me tell you, that sucks. With Blender, at least in cycles,, that's not the case, but you still have to be aware of what will look good AND be believable. So it's not difficult, just different. But it's rounding me out in what I can do in a scene and giving me more practice with lighting.
On top of practicing some different lighting I was able to work on some sculpting to fix the model where it had some unsightly jaggies and seams. I can't even imagine what it would be like if I could do that in SFM! Once I had Samus and her outfit fixed it was on to the background stuff and little details. Things that you won't notice, but if they AREN'T fixed they'll pull your attention away and lose immersion. Sometimes it's what you don't see that matters the most.
Besides it not looping (and me lacking the skillset to fix that for now), I'm really happy with this video. I'm much faster at setting up videos in Blender now, which allows me to get back to a more established workflow. For a couple weeks there I was thinking that maybe I had bit off more than I could chew, but things are finally solidifying for me. My point being, I can now start working on things such as animating in scene building in Blender now that I have the basics of setup down.
As promised, it's also available in 6K. Enjoy!
