When I work with a new animator for the first time, I try to start with something simple so I can feel out their process and get to know their style. It went pretty well with Vice, and we'll definitely be working together again. A lot of their content is monster related, so that does make it difficult to release everything in POV, but I am excited to be working with them. AND I love monsters!
Those of you who check our WIP channel on Discord already know about my upscaling with the bookshelf she's using for balance and leverage. For those of you who haven't seen it, I have been working with my drawing tablet in Photoshop to upscale textures that don't quite fit my standard of quality (within time constraints). Here's a before and after.
The difference in the side of the bookshelf, as well as the book covers, is pretty obvious. You wouldn't notice the quality improvement without a side by side, but I feel you WOULD notice a pixelated bookshelf that would detract from your immersion. Thus why I took the time to improve upon it. Immersion to me is very important in VR.
Lighting wise I am not completely happy with this scene. The rim effects on Miranda look good without being too over the top, and I tried to ensure she had light hitting her from all angles to better show off details on her skin and uniform. I think i did a good job on the terminator lines to ensure they blended well without fading out completely... It's more the environment itself I am not thrilled with... but, that's just the way it goes sometimes. It's getting better every day.
