With the introduction of our own 3d videos on each release, I was wondering if 4k 3d videos are worth our time or not. The 1080p 3d versions is definitely here to stay, as it's nice to have a preview besides a static picture that's also a great way to show off our work without needing to put a VR headset on. SO here's a poll for you all to show your opinion. I'll take a look after a day or two and make a decision then. To be clear, I am not talking about VR versions. 4k of VR will never go away. I am talking about 3d, non VR versions only.

4K all the way for me. 1080p just doesn't look as good even on a 1440p monitor.

I would like to see at least one of your works in 4k to see the difference. Also how would switching to 4k affect the rate at which you release the animations?

You must have missed the first 3d post! You can see an example here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/32287977 It's not so much switching to 4k as just not doing 4k 3d anymore. Not having 4k 3d would free my computer up more, allowing it to be open for other things. At the moment the computer I do all my work on is also my render machine. So every bit of rendering matters greatly. I wasn't going to worry about it until I did a 4k render of the upcoming 3d Christmas animation. It took so long that when I went to sleep and woke up, it was still rendering. That's as long as half a VR studio release typically takes!

3d as in stereoscopic?

I'm not gonna vote since i don't have a monitor that would allow me to tell the difference anyhow. But it certainly doesn't seem like it'd be worth the render time. Maybe tet out a 3k with a lower bitrate to see how much it cuts the render time?

I'm primarily using the VR headset so its not worth it personally. However if it doesn't add to your workload and you provide a separate link for VR as 4K files are WAY bigger to store. its really your preference.

DarkDreamsVR

It's worth the render time to me if it's something enough of our supporters want, which seems to be the case.

It only adds to my workload in time and learning new ways of working the camera, which I am a fan of anyways. I love learning! Files will always be separate for convenience. Thanks for the input!
