This is a good example of the new post processing techniques I am using from Red Giant and After Effects, as well as SFM's built in depth of field and volumetric lighting. I mentioned we could start using them in a previous post. Now that I understand how they actually work within SFM's rendering I can work around them with our VR conversions and animations. It does require a lot of tricking the camera and off scene placement, but it works! Depth of field is the same way; utilizing the feature in a way it wasn't originally intended to produce a better looking animation.
