I posted before about getting a Japanese role in a game, and after lots of practice and some frustrating sessions I finally finished recording for her. She's a kinda gruff but spunky ninja girl with a medium-range-ish voice and lots of wisdom. I don't think it's that bad for my first time professionally voicing a character in Japanese but I had to curtail my crazy perfectionist tendencies a bit to get this done on time and not be agonizing over it forever. It was not easy..But I had fun anyway..I took some inspiration from certain Japanese VA's and anime characters that I like to come up with the styles of voice for her, do you think you could guess which ones? ^_~
Normally speaking Japanese in my regular range and just sounding like an everyday person talking is not that difficult for me even if I slip up a little and sound dumb, but something about having to act and put on a completely different voice than my own feels kinda like trying to pat my head while rubbing my stomach in different directions if you know what I mean..It like confuses my brain and I stumble over phrases and words a lot more, probably cause I'm overthinking them and trying really hard to get them to sound like how the character would say them 100% of the time, when I probably shouldn't since it always sounds more natural for a character to have more of a varied way of speaking with different intonation and pitch depending on the context and their mood. But I can't count how many times I got super tongue-tied and wanted to hit my head on my desk and yell a lot. I did it though!!! I think I did okay, I could definitely do much better next time with this experience and probably practice my Japanese some more to sound less awkward sometimes.

Another kinda funny problem I ran into was, for creating the vocalizations where my character was supposed to be hit by something or hurt, I found it really difficult to NOT make it sound like......Sexual Noises....So I had to try really hard to vocalize pain in a way that didn't sound weird. I attached a very forbidden Bonus Clip to this post of one of my horrible outtakes of the pain noises. I feel like there should be sparkly sound effects and some bow chicka wow wow music in the background of that or something.
Anyway thank you for reading!!! and I hope you enjoy my misadventures in voice acting
