Here's the new release from Cherry Audio. I thought I'd take a quick look as it'd be nice to have a Memorymoog!

It's not bad :) I'm not sure what a real one sounds like, but this has that Moog feel.  Although the actual functionality of the synth is a little limited - a bit Prophet 5-esque.  But that never stopped the P5 from being a classic!

I wonder if the 'magic' of the original is really recreated here.  I don't think so.  I think its a decent emulation, but you can hear things like the modulation not being snappy enough, the filter not having the grit of my Minimoog and the FM is a bit weird at times.

All in al though... worth $39 for a play with a memorymoog style thing.

I take a look at all the main functions and do a bit of a comparison vs my Minimoog to see if it hits the spot from a filter and FM perspective. For the sound quality would you invest in more CA individual synths or in one synth like u-he Diva. Except the fun factor of individual recreations, would you see this used in a professional track?

I think DIVA is overall a more polished product. Everyone you'll speak to will talk about how good it sounds. These don't sound as good as the DIVA, but are good enough for most things. They definitely sound good enough for a pro track. It's only when you take things to the extremes that they don't hold up too well with the originals. But the extremes aren't used too often! FM and modulation isn't as crisp as you'd likened you don't get the grunge you do from a real synth, but for a nice cheap VST I think they're great value. If you're thinking of buying them all, however, I'd consider DIVA instead. But there's not a huge difference... some might not even notice depending on what they're making.
