This ones taken ages... mainly because I was looking to do something different than everyone that got the synth pre-release over a year ago!

So... everyone talks about how difficult it is to program and to understand what synth engine you're using etc... which is actually VERY confusing.  BUT not once you've watched this.  It took a while to actually understand exactly what's going on with the different models and categories.

In the end I concluded that the best way to edit it is not to use the hardware - but use the Roland Cloud plugin version then transfer to the synth.  I suppose it'd be better if there was a FREe software editor -  but then how would Roland keep you addicted to their cloud ;)

Roland Jupiter X and Xm Sound Design: Understanding the Zencore and Zenology synths

How to approach sound design and editing this little marvel. It can do so much, but the interface is limited - as are any hardware units that have complex engines. This is essentially like a Roland XV5080 (or JV1080 etc) with extra virtual analog oscillators and filters etc for modelling the classics. So the editing goes DEEP!

I think the sound is there.. my 106 is identical. It the interface that falls a bit flat. The system 8 is green and this has so much going on. It’s more like a preset player that you can edit than a traditional synth. As I say in the video it’s taking a different approach... why do you need to create a new tone if there are lots of very good ones already available. For me though like to be able to make sounds that work but do t fit any category - so presets can only Ever get me so far - which is why I eventually ended up starting from first principles.

Thats exactly it. They remind me more if romplers than synths.
