Prophet 6 vs System 8: why is the VCO more attractive then the digital emulation (Patreon)

This is something I've been working on over the past few days.  I'm a bit confused as to why I've more fondness for my sequential P6 than the system 8.  After all the system 8 has by all accounts an amazing replication of thew Jupiter 8 in it.  If I'd a Jupiter 8 I imagine I'd be very attached to it as an instrument.

I don't think its the sounds that are the issue, but the interface. If the System 8 looked like Jupiter 8 would it be more engaging.. probably... which is weird!!

I've not put the intro and outro on this yet - working on some tracks today using these synths but I've not been very successful yet - everything sounds rubbish :) I've not got into my groove so to speak.

Whats the difference in real terms ie when creating a track? If the digital recreation is effectively sonically identical in a mix, then why do we still buy very expensive new synths based on old technology? Yes, It is pretty stupid to not like something just because it doesn't look appealing even though it sounds great. The new Tr8 s did adress the problem and I find it looks alot better, The jupiter x aswell. But the prophet 6 just begs me to wolf whistle every time I see it.

I've got an Alpha Juno 2. Hardly used it since I was a teenager because I can't stand the LCD interface. (Have an external controller now. yay!). The System 8 (and others you've reviewed) seem to be repeating those sins of the past. It's got the sound! Prophet looks like a blast. Alas my rack is full and my wallet is only half full.
