I would like to remind everyone that these episodes were recorded pre-strike. Therefore some of the things we're talking about are a little out of sync with where we're at now. Also, as we've previously mentioned we will be transitioning into watch along format. For this serial we will still have the episode available, but as you'll be able to see it will be slightly blurred and audio lowered (Though that is the norm with audio). I have edited in a timer to help with adjusting to what that will be like as well. Thank you all for understanding and your support!

This is the one story that was a bit nearer to the brief that Carole-Ann Ford had regarding the role of Susan. Originally the role was supposed to be nearer to Avengers, Cathy Gale a more action type character and with telepathic powers. Sadly, between the pilot episode and the broadcast series, the role changed and Susan became more like an ordinary teenager and more timid with it. Carole Ann was around 23 at the time, playing a 15 year old. Frustrating that she didn't get what she expected. "There's more to life than screaming at nasty monsters!" as Carole is portrayed as saying in An Adventure In Space And Time.

Watching this show along with you has given me a new appreciation for this story, it is a case of familiarity with the story (I have seen this so many times) making me forgot the mystery in these first two episodes. Susan is well written in this story, it's a shame this was the exception rather than the norm

This is the first time I'm watching this story one episode at a time. Prior, it's always been the whole 6-Episode-in-one-go format, either on Britbox, DVD, or PBS when I was a wee lad. I agree that this way shows off the difference in these first couple of episodes much more clearly, to what comes later when they all head down to the planet.
