Lot of fun, Happy New Years, y'all

He's not kidding. De Lancie was REALLY good in DOOL. His character's final arc in 1989 turned him into a time-traveling mad/bumbling scientist that got trapped in the future so long he made an android replica of his wife, Calliope. And when he finally was able to return to the present, time agents came after him and mistook his REAL wife for the android and... well, you can imagine the hilarious performance a wild-haired mad scientist played by Q could get up to!

I've met John De Lancie multiple times in Star Trek the Cruise and he hosts Q's Costume Ball every time, that means that he's done 6 of those cruises. He really is the sweetest most understanding person to us fans, and embraces the legacy of Q.

"I got everything up into RAM, as it were"; as a professional tech-head, that made me giggle.

John de Lancie portrayed Eugene Bradford on Days of Our Lives from 1982 - 1989 and both his character as well as Calliope Jones who's style was extremely 80s with outfits and hair sometimes mixing a bit between Cyndi Lauper and Madonna but with her own unique twist, especially her outrageous hats and matching dresses. The two of them considering it was a daytime soap opera dealing with constant drama, scheming, romance etc a welcomed comic relief to offset everything else. Of course he left Days in '89 which (between TNG seasons 2 & 3) helped him be available to do other things but also more readily available to be Q when called upon.

Ok I was going to joke about spoiler alert 😆 on a 30 year old plot but YES this, made a robot of his Ex, to protray that they put silver pegs on the side of her neck 🤖 , they got wild with that plot. I know all this because two HS friends that were Trek fans let me know it was going on and I peeked in on it. 😲

It was nuts and fantastic. Either Calliope or Eugene on their own would make wonderful comic relief, but together! Thoroughly enjoyable. I still remember Eugene revealing himself to Calliope in that basement, wild-haired and crazy. :D

Heh, I was completely blindsided by him showing up in TNG, actually. I could never remember that DeLancie's name nor his character's name, despite being very entertaining. When I saw him on TNG I was like OMG it's that guy! From Days! The crazy one!! :D

Same, I used to love Days ever since I got hooked as a little one watching it with my Grandma... I check back every once in a while to find out who's still around and such but Eugene and Calliope were my favorites by far. :) It was like they had their own completely seperate show that somehow accidentally got stuck into the normal plotlines. :)
