Paula about Jellico: " What a dick." Exactly. Dick Jones (and Cohaagen rolled into one).

Now that Kat has seen this. I REALLY want to see her reaction to the DS9 episode Duet.

I think it was in the first part when Picard briefed Crusher and Worf on the mission that he explained what their roles were. I may be mistaken. Picard was there because of his familiarity with the technology for the delivery system of the weapon, Crusher was there in her medical capacity to make sure they could effectively locate and destroy the metagenic material and Worf was the muscle.

Jellico is a jerk, but its good to remember that in an actual military or just a job, sometimes you have to work with arrogant people who think they don't need advice or dismiss others if they feel they have more expierence. These folks are tough to work with, and of course can get on your nerves, but everyone is deserving of a chance, and while he wasnt nice about it, He did get the job done and humbled himself when He had to. We cant always choose who we work with but with patience even when it isn't returned you can still complete the mission. But yeah, there were a few times i wanted belt him for being so impatient and arrogant.

Ps. My favorite scene is when Madred brings in his daughter. I mean ive heard of bring your child to work day but come on. Such a sick thing to do to the mind of a child.

Ben Chan

Well, it all depends ... I remember being taken to the zoo a bunch of times as a kid and while those kind of zoos are considered inhumane now, at the time there was nothing wrong with it.

Brad Barter

The only lasting and good thing Jellico did was have Deanna switch to the standard uniform. Her awful (colorless outfits as L'Waxanna called them) came in on season 2 after her drab grey (actually made of denim) first season outfit. With the exception of her flowing blue/green dress or off duty she was pretty much only in those same outfits. Her change to the uniform will become a focal point and necessary in a future episode but I will leave it there so not to spoil anything but certainly Marina Sirtis must've hated wearing those same outfits for years on end.

"There are FOUR lights!"

This episode definitely had more of a DS9 feel to it, likely to prepare viewers for what to expect. While there is no TNG farewell for O’Brien, he does get his send off in the DS9 pilot. I don’t know if it’s too spoilery to say, it if you go on to watch DS9 then there are a whole subset of episodes that have simply been branded “O’Brien must suffer”, so make of that what you will.

Are you going to start watching DS9 too? Or finish all of TNG first? (If so just like 3 and a half years to go till you react to In the Pale Moonlight :D )

Firefly24601

They've stated in previous TNG reactions that they will not be reacting to DS9.

Anonymous

Have they definitively said that? I missed that? Shit.

Nolan

Man, what a torturous episode... 😏

Mark Chrisco

'I've always wondered how subversive it would have been adjusting the opening credits of this erpisode to feature :"Starring Ronny Cox as Capt. Edward Jellico."

Andrew Hogan

They did look more comfortable compared to the uniforms though, and let’s just say I didn’t mind the view either.

Andrew Hogan

I realize Paula is out in this, but would Katrina be against watching it, or has everyone decided it would be too much for her?

Andrew Hogan

Very much. I thought I heard or read somewhere there was a possibility of Patrick Stewart not returning due to contract issues and this was one of the reasons for the switch.
