The 2-episode Rick & Morty anime from adult swim actually has a lot more depth to it than the actual show does

TBH, this episode kind of exemplifies the problems I've had with the last two seasons. The show's writing staff seems pretty divided about the direction to take things and seems to have some...let's charitably call it 'complex' feelings about their own fanbase, and lets both of those become the actual text (not subtext, but a frequent component of dialogue) of episodes pretty frequently. Like...if you don't want to write a thing? No one's making you. And it's gotten past the point where it feels like a joke and is pretty openly moving into "the show's most frequently reoccurring theme" territory.
