Okay, as much as I ranted about last week's episode, I LOVE this one. Clara is back to being *not* OOC as hell, and the story is just damned clever. Edit: Also, I totally wish Perkins had become a companion. He and Clara would have made a fun team when it comes to handling the Doctor.

Great moment for Frank Skinner, one of his bucket list moments getting on the show, and being "offered" to become a companion within the story anyway. Looking forward to see your reaction to this one gals 👍🏼

I don't blame Danny here, Clara is lying to him. All he wants is for her to tell him the truth so he can help her when he can and she keeps not doing it. I don't think he's telling her he can't travel with the Doctor, but is just trying to give advice based on the lies she keeps telling him. Remember the last episode, he pointed out to her that she can't be done with him if she's still mad at him. But maybe that's just how I see it, not sure what others think?

Frank Skinner wishes he could have become a companion, too! He loves Doctor Who!

Firefly24601

Agreed. I honestly thought Danny was much more blameless in this episode than in others. It's Clara who told him she wanted out, told him this was the last mission, told him that after this no more Doctor. He even tried to give her options that didn't COMPLETELY cut out the Doctor when she was talking to him in bed on the train. It's Clara who changed her mind, which is absolutely fine in and of itself. But when Danny called to see if she'd actually pulled the trigger, she lied and confirmed things were over.

Great episode, and somewhat surreal having just listened to Paula on Death by Monsters discussing the Titanic and the theory it's sinking was caused by a cursed mummy on board! I feel the characters and relationships feel so real this season, and Clara's asking the Doctor if his life is like an addiction is in fact reflecting on herself. And what do you do when you have an addiction? You lie about it, both to yourself and to others - especially those you are close to. That's exactly what Clara is doing.

Yeeeeah, Danny started off so great in his first episode, but my appreciation for him plummeted damned fast, and my opinion of him only got worse. I don't know why they decided to make him so controlling and judgmental after he started off being a sweet doofus.

This episode brings back many good memories for me. "Sometimes, the only choices you have are bad ones ..." That whole scene Capaldi, the lighting, the location, it all just elevated the character of the Doctor to this big towering alien walking amongst us mere mortals who has lived many lives, faced far too many baddies and lives a nature that saves many many lives. It's when 12 finally finally clicked for me and was more than just a meanie. Your reaction is perfect Katrina, good job on holding back the tears 😭

This was the episode where I actually started to like this Doctor. I'd struggled with him up till this point. It remains one of the few episodes I like from series 8.

Perhaps if Frank Skinner wasn't hosting Room 101 at the time this episode was filmed perhaps Perkins would've became a companion.

There was another callback here besides "Are you my Mummy?". Remember when Amy & Rory got married and the Tardis phone rang and Matt Smith said it was about The Orient Express... in space?" And that when Amy's starts waving goodbye to the party. An earlier call from Gus, i guess

You have had the war doctor now it is the monologue doctor and doctor lite

Oooh, can't wait to watch this -- it's not only the debut of my fave modern series writer (Jamie Matheison), but it also has Janet Henfrey returning from the classic series, particularly from my all-time fave Doctor Who story, 'The Curse of Fenric' (she played the old lady, Maisie's gran, in this and played the grumpy Miss Hardacker in Fenric). <3

Ok, love this episode and you guys did a fine job on this video (I don’t agree with every take but who expects that, right?) that being said, I don’t think it’s doing you a service that no one is mentioning the technical issues your videos are having these past few uploads. I enjoy your content and want to keep enjoying it but it’s becoming more and more difficult when the gain on your mics is so high that Paula rubbing her arm sounds like someone rubbing sand paper over coarse wood and every bite of that apple sounded like I had randomly started listening to a chewing ASMR podcast. It might be helpful to throw on some headphones and give the video a listen before you export it. Leveling your audio and the episodes audio isn’t hard and it’s the easiest thing in the world to select a section of audio where Paula is chomping on her apple and mute it (although, if you fix the levels between the commentary and the video you probably wouldn’t have to worry about the chewing noise because the episodes audio would likely drown it out). Anyway, aside from the technical things, I enjoyed your commentary and hope you’re able to get the tech stuff under control. See you in the next one.

Firefly24601

You must not be reading the YouTube comments if you think no one is mentioning technical issues. 😄

Brandon Scott

Why would I read the YouTube comments? Um, no. No I don’t read those.
