I'm a year late to watching your reaction to this series, but I personally adore this episode. I do feel like the beach scene is perhaps slightly rushed though. I still love it a lot, but it feels a little forced when it needed a little bit of time to breathe. Maybe an extra minute or two, so it's not just one character after another expositing about their traumatic lives. Also, I really like Zuko and Mai's relationship. I feel like they have really good chemistry, and I know perfectly happy people like that in real life. In my opinion it's just their unresolved personal issues that make it feel off. If you're unhealthy personally, your relationships also probably aren't going to be super healthy either. I don't think any relationship either of them could be in would look very good at this point in their development.
