It's great to see longtime fans like Paula introduce newcomers like Kat to TNG, over 25 years after the show went off the air! When the show premiered in 1987, I was starting 6th grade, and the finale aired just weeks before I graduated high school in 1994. Over those 7 years, I saw TNG go from being a show you were made fun of for watching to a show that had viewing parties among my classmates for the final episode. Both TNG and the reruns of original series were HUGE inspirations for me and other Gen-Xers. These shows cultivated in us an interest in the sciences and also showed a hopeful future--in direct contrast to so many of the post-apocalyptic dystopias that were a common setting in 1980s science fiction. Many of us who watched both shows followed our interests into STEM careers.
