Development Update (May 2021) (Patreon)
Content
Kind greetings adventurers!
Welcome to an update of where I'm at and plans for the month, please read on big changes that are afoot!
What have I been working on?
I have mostly been working on Adventure Munching this month, and more details below.
The importer has received mostly small bug tweaks.
What went wrong?
I have a motherboard failure in my main PC, no work was lost but I did lose a weekend of work time and have been working on my ancient laptop while I await replacement parts.
Adventure Parsing
I'm pleased to announce the DDB Adventure Muncher will be available to all Undying Gratitude tier Patreons in the next day or so, a post will follow with details on accessing this. It's considered beta and will for a couple of weeks while you no doubt find bugs and we work on improvements.
Later this month, if all goes well it will be released as an open-source application for everyone (no Patreon required).
Patreon Tier Changes
Later this month I will be releasing code to allow people to run their own DDB Proxy. This will be for people who want to run their own proxy. The proxy will support:
* Characters
* Spells
* Items
* Monsters
It won't support my experimental features or the update to DDB features.
I will be making some changes to the Patreon tiers to reflect this.
Coffee:
* Able to use the proxy to import Monsters both official and homebrew
* Can use source filters
* Upload character changes back to DDB
Undying Gratitude:
* As per Coffee
* Can access experimental features that have moved into beta, e.g. Class, Race, Feat import
* Early access to new features in beta
* Access to prioritisation polls
God Tier:
* As per Undying Gratitude
* Access to alpha material
Please change tiers as you see fit, and I'm sure some of you will go off to host your own proxy. These changes will be rolling out in the next week or so. Thank you for your support so far!
What's next?
So for those of you not tracking Foundry Development the next major version (0.8.*) is entering the beta phase this month and is due out towards the end of May. It contains some big changes to how actors, items etc are stored accessed and how compendiums are interacted with. As you can imagine these are huge (breaking) changes for the importer.
I'm going to be spending most of my development effort bringing dbb-importer into line with the changes. Because of what ddb-importer does it's very unlikely that the version created to support 0.8.* will be backwards compatible with earlier versions.
In addition, I will be improving scene support in DDB Adventure Muncher.
New Keys
I'll be updating the key posts with the new keys early next week and the March keys will become inactive.
Happy adventuring!
