IMPORTANT NOTE: Dropbox has recently changed their video player, and while I like the layout more, it appears to be buggy right now, so if you get an error message such as the one below, just reload the page until it works. Sorry I know this frustrating, but it's the best I can offer you right now.

Episode 3 Reaction: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jb4mg38gvhw2koj/AAD6-HCH1tz71viD4plg4kRQa?dl=0

The order and formatting I used to react to these two episodes may be confusing, so I will do my best to explain it:

Episode 2 I just watched as a one shot, so I linked it as a separate video file above.
Episode 3 I chose to watch through the rest of the first performance round, then pause the episode to watch the full uncut versions of all the performances from episodes 2 AND 3, and then resumed the rest of Episode 3.
My reaction to the full performances starts at 53:50 in Part 1 of Episode 3 and continues until 57:29 of Part 2 of Episode 3 linked above. The reason I decided to do it this way is because I didn't want to move on from the performance round until after I had seen all of the performances completely.

My enjoyment of My Teenage Girl and overall excitement from the group has been reduced A LOT after watching these two episodes. I wish I could say I was just as hyped as I was after Episode 1 finished, but that would be a complete and utter lie. I AM still excited to watch future performances of course, and I am already attached to a LOT of trainees who are super talented and I want to root for and watch succeed. But I would say overall my excitement level for the show has been reduced from an 8 or 9 out of 10 after Episode 1 to a 3 or 4 out of 10 now.

The "solution" to this show passing more than the 10 allotted trainees per grade (a stupid idea to begin with as Grade 3 is CLEARLY the best grade and there should be no limit to how many per grade pass) is apparently to completely 180 on the idea that these performances were what determined survival, and now add back more handpicked eliminated contestants to match which grade had the most people and to now completely invalidate everyone who did give good performances by evaluating their survival purely based on their ability to learn what the judges see as the best fit for a part in an upcoming performance they didn't know about and couldn't prepare for??? This problem is stupid, and the solution is the most braindead possible solution somehow that completely discards the entire round of performances, which not only is unfair to trainees who performed well, but also as a viewer, completely creates narrative dissonance as I now feel as though all of my investment in the performance rounds and the pre-show prepping for this performance round means nothing at all and was a waste of my time.

This combined with the choices made about which performances were aired in the episode and which were COMPLETELY skipped over or montaged, and the choices to use OBSENE amounts of screentime for forced drama and awkward judge interactions and things that could have been spent on more of the excellent performances that weren't aired at all, and the mean-spirited way in which Hyorim was treated has reduced my investment and excitement for this show more than any other survival I have watched so far.

This show left such a sour taste in my mouth that I do not even feel like writing up which performances I liked and who impressed me, since they will probably just be deleted from the show in some BS way that hasn't been explained yet in a future episode, and anyways it doesn't even matter how they performed since they are now being eliminated by how quickly they can learn a random part for a whole group performance anyways instead. If this show doesn't care about how the performances effect survival, then why should I?

Just as a note though: Nothing can make me too salty to sing Taerim's praises. This girl will take over the K-Pop industry and the entire planet, mark my words.

I will always include the updated text file of my trainee list so you can all track how much I like certain trainees throughout the show. It's not too complicated to follow: Any time a trainee does something that REALLY grabs my attention, or makes me root for her, I add another star.
