Recently I hope to add more American Youkai characters for my original comic "Anime-Tamae!"

In my research, I found some folklore animals, or "Fearsome Critters" of lumbers.

Maybe they are not exactly American Youkai, but I hope to draw them as Youkai Girls in Anime-Tamae!

I choose "Silvercat" or "Ball-tailed Cat" for my first attempt.

It is just a doodle, not the final character design...

But as you may notice, I hope to add some Bimbo taste for her... perhaps she is a minion of Mindy, American Kitsune Miko(Fox Maiden).

If you know interesting Youkai or Folklore creatres from your country, please tell me!

(If it is suitable for a girl character, it is better!)

Sousuke Drake

There is Big Foot, and El Chupacabra, also we have a lot of Ghosts/Poltergeists as well There is also La Lechuza, Legend has it that the Lechuza is really a witch or the spirit of an annoyed woman who can choose to turn into an owl at will And the Skinwalker, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin-walker" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skin-walker</a> which is like a Nativa American shape shifter that can turn into any animal

Biwa-Boku-Boku

A Native American one we have is called the Wendigo <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendigo" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendigo</a> which I've seen portrayed many ways, including as some kind of abominable snow monster beast like a Yeti. Also, very cut drawing, but I'm wondering that since she is a silver ball cat, maybe her hair should be silver.

Biwa-Boku-Boku

Also there is Deer woman <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deer_Woman" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deer_Woman</a> from Native American legends and the Russian/Polish Rusalka, (<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rusalka)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rusalka)</a> often depicted as a beautiful woman with very large breasts who dwells in the rivers.

Biwa-Boku-Boku

Also fearsome critters are great, there were many clever ones such as the cactus cat!

Smyling Beast

Very nice! Love that straining top of hers. The initial sketch looks very alluring, and that barbed tail could definately do some damage. I also like how she has managed to obtain accessories to wear on her tail. As fashionable as she is fatal, it seems. As for suggestions for beasts from folklore, I'm from Ireland, which has a rich supply of such creatures. Some possible suitable candidates for your comic would be Caoranach, <a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caor%C3%A1nach" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caor%C3%A1nach</a> who took the form of monstrous female serpent/dragon that was feared as the mother of all demons in ancient times. She sounds a little like Melzel in that regard, however, I'm sure you could easily think up a uniquely seductive Celtic dragon design. Another idea would be the Puca/Pooka <a href="https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%BAca" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C3%BAca</a> that assumed the forms of horses (and sometimes goats) that had a reputation for playing sometimes cruel tricks and pranks upon mortals. And of course there is the Banshee, a female spirit whose wailing cries were an omen of death to those who heard them.

Bo Taffy

she looks like a tough vixen.

Superjustinbros

She's beautiful! Great outfit and boobies too! Also very shiny. ^_^

Bo Taffy

you could do one on the coyote (the trickster god of native American folklore): <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote_%28mythology%29" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coyote_%28mythology%29</a>

Spenji

For some reason she reminds me of Tifa, maybe that's why I like her already!!

I like the design on this one, She definatly has american flair to her. Speaking of american youkai. A werewolf, dracula and frankenstein were used on Shuriken Sentai Ninninger as monsters of the week, and they were called the three great american youkai. Maybe you could take some classic movie monsters and turn them into girl characters. I think monsters like Frankenstein or the swampman would make fun girl characters. Maybe a mummy would be fun as well. And here are some dutch mythical creatures that could be from. Since I'm from the Netherlands. <a href="http://blogs.transparent.com/dutch/dutch-monsterscreatures/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://blogs.transparent.com/dutch/dutch-monsterscreatures/</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witte_Wieven" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witte_Wieven</a> <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckriders" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckriders</a>

The Overlord of Ice

I reaaally like the Bimbo touches she have, very exotic and sexy

If your still looking for American youkai. There's the jersey devil, Mothman, Sasquatch and some of his lesser known cousins, gator people of the swamps and the headless horseman

I really like Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei, I grew up with this. Here is a Wikia with American lore <a href="http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Category:American_Mythology_and_Popular_Culture" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Category:American_Mythology_and_Popular_Culture</a>

I think this one you can do a girl character. It's lore from Hawaii which is technically in the United States <a href="http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Pele" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Pele</a>

Malhavoc

Can't believe only one person has mentioned Bigfoot: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigfoot" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigfoot</a> or the Jersey Devil: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_Devil" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_Devil</a> . Mothman <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothman" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mothman</a> and the Wendigo <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendigo" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wendigo</a> is another good one. If you want some more wild folklore, look into the Cajun swamp folklore of the South East. You've got the Rougarou: <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rougarou" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rougarou</a> and more.

Rebis

Thank you so much! Indeed I know many legendary creatures around the world, but I did not know Caoranach! She is very interesting. Female-Dragon characters have secret important role in "Anime-Tamae!" world setting, so your information is really precious for me. She should be a sexy Dragon-Demoness character in my style!! I know Puca, but it may have too many aspects to draw in one girl character... but yes, I don't know my future inspirations...

Rebis

Thank you guys for your information! As a Youkai and legendary creatures Otaku, of course I know major creatures like Bigfoot, Jersey Devil, Mothman and Chupacabra ... Wendigo... But I'm interested in folklore around swamp and the Cajun culutre, gatorman or Rougarou...(Mentioned by Devided0 and Malhavoc) they are not so famous and I have less information. If anyone know about it more, please tell me! XD

Rebis

Wow thank you! I don't know much about Netherlands legends. They are really interesting! If you know more creatures from your country, I hope to know more. About movie creatures... maybe Frankenstein's monster should be German or England character...? And Mummy should be from Egypt? (Ninninger is for little children, so I don't mind it... hehe)

Rebis

Oh yes! I hope to draw the Cactus Cat as a teammate of Silvercat!

Mecatama

A Tail with horn? interesting mix!

simplemangafan

I found this link on the Gatorman. <a href="http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Gator_Man" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://cryptidz.wikia.com/wiki/Gator_Man</a> And this link on Rougarou <a href="http://www.werewolfpage.com/myths/Rougarou.htm" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.werewolfpage.com/myths/Rougarou.htm</a> I hope they are helpful.

I thinks Thunderbirds would be good <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbird_%28mythology%29" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunderbird_%28mythology%29</a> I don't know if this would work but I thought it was funny <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop-fish" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bishop-fish</a>

I'm a bit late to the party, but have you heard of Huldra (the Hulder)? She's a seductive creature from Scandinavian folklore who lures people into the forest. From the front, she looks like a beautiful woman, but she has the tail of a cow and a back like a hollow tree.

Rebis

Interesting! I remember Huldra or like creature I read from some books, but forgot it. In my opinion, having Cow parts justifies that she has big boobs..!!

Panzer Poodle

I can't think of any creatures that haven't already been suggested but I just wanted to chime in and say how much I love the character already! I love the idea of a mythical bimbo! =D
