it's possible this story might not be for you but i will contextualize some things that you asked about. ***Minor character spoilers ahead centered around your question*** ************************************************************************ yes denji is a character who is emotionally stunted from a horrible childhood and who was deprived of normal love/affection so he doesn't understand yet how it manifests outside of physical touch (family/friendship/lovers) because he has never had these things with exception of Pochita. from this episode it is pretty clear that Makima understands this and is using his simple nature combined with his ability to her advantage. I won't pretend like it's all deep, there is also the factor that he is also a hormonal teenage boy. But this isn't a story of a teenage boy earning his sexual stripes through favors. at the heart of it denji is a good person like any other who wants to be loved. I am a fan of the series. I think it has a lot of heart and a lot nuance around difficult subjects, the world they live in is interesting, the characterization and development of so many characters is amazing, and the action in this series is insanity. That being said there will probably be more scenes or story beats that make you uncomfortable around the subject of sex and it's kind of the point. but it tones down significantly within the next 2-3 episodes.
