So as you all know I will be doing the finishing touches to Valia: Life of a Succubus and moving onto vids for a few months. Now what you may not know is that at 0.5. version of Valia: Life of a Succubus, my laptop (an old refurbished IBM laptop with WIN7 2GB RAM blah blah) died. Luckily I had backups of the models and software both on a seperate hard drive AND uploaded to dropbox and MEGA. So I got a new laptop with, well, better specs than an old second hand £100 laptop and bought a better one.

You'll notice from the above photo a little improvement in graphics quality, see my old laptop couldn't run this, this one (touch wood) seems to be able to. The biggest thing with this mod is that having gone from version 3 to 4 (No way could I run the current version 5!) I now have things like Dynamic Shading, i.e. the light responds to objects and where the are, as opposed to bathing everything in light no matter the direction. If you look you can see the light hits certain parts and not others.

Another thing which this opens up is area lighting or as the software calls it: Level Definitions, i.e. I can directly modify without having to use Blender and edit the whole area itself the lighting of the area. I can make an area darker or lighter, knock out some lighting, add others almost on the fly.

Finally however it allows for the use of HD textures as well, look at that sky, the bridge and the sea for example!

I'm still learning about that however but I don't stand still, I want to improve the quality, indeed I still did back then but thought that I should finish the game to a basic (I still have stuff to do on it) standard before trying to upgrade when I wasn't sure it would work (Still not sure now, haven't tested a full on motion capture)

GAME AIMS:

* Only 1 aim really - Complete as many of the follower storylines as is possible.

ALSO - Other than Lamedave I've received no bug reports so I assume you guys have explored the endings? What do you think? Was it surprising?

(I'm also quietly looking at RPG maker MV)

VIDEO AIMS:

* Learn even more about graphical enhancements for the software and editing.

And that's that. Will keep you updated, don't worry I'm not going away!

:-)
