Content

Hi everyone, things are getting busy again so sorry for being a little behind. But I do have some good stuff to share.

Here's some of my nicer sketches from the last month:

And here's a finished illustration for the month--been playing a lot of SF6 and Manon is very interesting! Probably my favorite new character from the last couple generations. Anyway, as usual there's a full set of variants and high-res/psd files that will be posted a little later.

Which brings me to something else I wanted to talk about in this entry. I've been thinking about making some significant changes to my subscription tiers and the content I'm offering. The quick version is that I don't think the number of tiers I have available is a good fit for the subscribers I have. I also have to admit having trouble keeping up with generating all the additional content--things beyond my primary interests: drawing, animation, and gamedev.

What I want to do is:

1. Simplify my tiers. I'd like to shoot for just 2-3 tiers. Ideally a low end tier for people who just want to chip in a lil bit, and a higher tier for those who want everything. This also means focusing more on the rewards I enjoy creating the most. So while some content isn't being made as often (wallpapers, wip videos, etc), when I do make it it'll be more widely available instead of needing a specific tier to get to it.

Of course that also means I'll need to...

2. Adjust tier pricepoints. I generally don't want to just raise prices without also offering a bit more in return. For example I'm considering bumping the $1 tier to about $3, but it will include everything from the $5 tier as well. Still thinkin about it so more on this at a later date.

3. Change up sketches/voting/requests rewards. In the past I've offered requests as a way to combine community engagement with inspiration for monthly sketches, but lately I haven't received very many, and I've gotten better about drawing more frequently so I want to find a better replacement. My plan right now is to post up some of my favorite sketches from the past few months, and let subscribers vote on what gets turned into a finished drawing. That way you still have input on what I work on, and I get to work on stuff I like the most. Win-win. :)

So, what does that mean for you? Well, I think my plan will be to think this plan through a bit more, perhaps until the end of the year, which would be a good time to switch over. Until then, I'd like to hear from you if you have any opinions at all about anything mentioned above. I'm doing this for your benefit as well as mine, so if there's something I could be doing better, please let me know!

Additional status updates:

Pod's New Program: Trying to solve some challenging problems with scripting enemy movement and projectile patterns. I'm attempting to keep things as modular as possible and enemy behavior is new territory for me.

Samus Animation: Rigging in progress. The bulk of the work is done for this step but there's still some work to be done smoothing out and fine tuning the shape deformations.

Ok I think that covers it for this month. Keep an eye out for the Manon posts later tonight and I'll see ya next time. Thanks for your support!
