Helloooooo there. More particle progress! This time I'm showing off the effect for when enemies are destroyed! Much of the "ring" and other components were easy enough to reuse from previous effects, but the LCD-style black geometric shapes were all done by hand, frame by frame. I think it was worth it though, take a look at the video and judge for yourself. :)
I've actually finished the Core (essentially the boss-type enemy who is always destroyed last) destruction effect, but I realized that I need to make one for when the boss' shield gets dropped (happens when all other enemies are destroyed), so I'll get that done and reveal them both at the same time, most likely next week.
So, here's the list. Hard to believe these are almost done!
- Player trails (Done!)
- Player shot destruction (Done!)
- Player get hit (Done!)
- Player ship destruction (Done!)
- Enemy get hit (Done!)
- Enemy damage flash (Done!)
- Enemy shot destruction (Done!)
- Enemy kill (Done!)
- Boss/Core kill (Done!)
- Core shield (Done!)
- Core shield hit (Done!)
- Core shield destruction*
- Hacking Entry effect
- Hacking Exit effect
*Will be done next.
Which of course just leaves the two most difficult ones. I've been turning over in my head a few possibilities while working on other stuff. After the rest are done I'll begin seeing how viable they are.
I'm also looking forward to being done with these effects so I can get back to the more interesting (read: NSFW) parts of the game.
