In 2013 I previewed three drawings for an upcoming book project about vampires, but while the art is pretty much all done, the book has kind of been put on the backburner.
Here's one of my favorite drawings from it, though, my interpretation of a Pelesit.
This is a creature from Malaysian folklore said to look like a cricket but created by a sorcerer from the tongue of an infant. How does a baby tongue turn into a cricket? I tried to make it sort of half-way.
Pelesits are said to use their saw-like tails to cut a tiny hole in a sleeping victim and enter their body, driving them mad.
