More concept work for Kim! Going dark maybe...

Current primary materials are muscles made from a titanium-nickel alloy, and a skeletal frame made from carbon fiber. Kim's previous prostheses used servos and actuators, which, while great for fine motor control, tend to be weak compared to hydraulics or a muscular suspension system. With this in mind, I've opted for more organic-inspired bionics, but with sturdier and more dynamic materials. You're not going to get the 360 degree range of motion you could with servos, but you can achieve fluid motion and markedly higher strength all around.

Oh wow, it looks fantastic.

Pretty sure you already know about these, but hydraulic and/or pneumatic muscles have been around for a while: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumatic_artificial_muscles

I have, yeah! Gas-based seems a little flimsy, but a hypothetical liquid has a lot of potential for heavy-duty stuff.

After what the TV cat said in #44, I wonder why Kim is still clinging to a regular body. Why not go crazy instead of 2 legs and 2 arms?

I seem to remember one big manufacturer of hydraulics (not SMC) selling a hydraulic artificial muscle, but I cannot find it now..
