For the Drifters being introduced in this episode - Hannibal Barca - Carthiginian leader who famously invaded Italy via the Alps with his war elephants Scipio Africanus - Hannibal's Roman adversary in the 2nd Punic War, hence the bickering at the beginning, Scipio was noted to have used Hannibal's tactics against Hannibal in the latter years of the war. Butch Cassidy - Leader of the Wild Bunch gang, one of the outlaw gangs during the Old West era of US. Sundance Kid - member of Butch's Wild Bunch Naoshi Kanno - the foul mouth pilot of the show... He was noted to be a skillful but rebellious pilot during WW2. He was so skillful that the Airforce turned down his application as a kamikaze pilot because they felt that it would be too wasteful. For the Ends being introduced in this episode - Hijikata Toshizō - Vce-commander of the Shinsengumi who died fighting for the Tokugawa Shogunate during the Boshin War. Jeanne d'Arc or Joan of Arc - which you guys already knew Gilles de Rais - companion of Joan when they were alive Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova - youngest daughter of the last Russian tsar, Nicholas II, Her family and her were shot by a Bolshevik firing squad when Anastasia was 17. Grigori Rasputin - Russian mystic who once held a great influence over the Russian Imperial Court, some say he was Tsarina's lover (i.e. Anastasia's mum?) Minamoto no Yoshitsune - Commander of Yoichi (yup the Drifter trap boy) during the Genpei war. Black King - ID is disputed but commonly believed to be author's interpretation of Christ (even though it was planned for the Messiah to be rejected and to die on the cross) All the Ends possesses superhuman powers - mostly related to them in their past life, i.e. Hijikata able to summon the wraiths of Shinsengumi to fight with him, while Joanne is wielding the fire that burned her as a witch, whereas Drifters usually do not unless they were born with it. As for personalities wise - Ends died violent deaths and are filled with grudge against the living humans whereas the Drifters are typically not cruel and do not tolerant the harming of innocents.
