I think the reason it ends on a cliffhanger is that there was supposed to be a season 6 but it was cancelled

To be honest, I never felt like this ending was a cliffhanger. I think it was wrapped up pretty neatly. If this girl really is Terra, I think it's nice that she can forget the awful stuff she did and live her life as a normal girl.

There’s two theories for this episode. One is that when Raven defeated Trigon last season and she turned all the stone people back to normal, it also reversed Terra. It actually completely makes sense. Two, the main one is that Terra does actually remember, but she doesn’t want any of the Titans to know because she wants to live a normal life. When Beast Boy asks her at the end “why can’t things go back to the way they were? You were so happy then.” She replies “things were never the way you remember. Now leave me alone.” as if it triggered her, because we all know it was actually the complete opposite during her time with the Teen Titans. How would she know that unless she actually does remembers? She then says “Things change, Beast Boy. The girl you want me to be is just a memory.” The fact she goes from saying over and over “you’ve got the wrong girl” to Terra is just a memory implies she remembers but she’s not interested in reigniting her past, and might in fact feel a lot of shame and guilt over it. It’s her one chance to live a normal life and if anyone were to know the horrible things she did, or if the Titans get even a little glimpse of “she does remember” then that chance is over. Then the little things like how the ice moves with her hand movement at the pizza place, to the somber way she looks at the mirror BB made her, to the way she moves her hair back like the old Terra when BB calls her Terra again at the end. I do wish they made the last season, but it’s still a good way to end a series. Learning to let go of the things you love, like the book store, the movie store, the auto shop, Terra, and now Teen Titans. 🥲 It was a wild ride!
