Please give a rewarmed Hot Dog welcome to comedian, filmmaker, and former professional online hookup broker, Teresa Lee! She’s joining us on the podcast this week, where Seanbaby shows his affection the only way he knows how: By attacking her psyche with a cursed book from his library of things that should never be. It’s actually a pretty good system – if she flees, that’s totally understandable. But if she stays, we’re automatic best friends because it’s like going through war together.

This time we’re discussing How to Pick Up Girls at a Con by the Night Kid$, a group of Instagram-cute nerd boys trying to be pickup artists but finding out mid-book that they don’t have the pickup part, or the artist part. It’s full of advice that is, best case, insultingly obvious, and most case, painfully problematic. Every page of it is thick with insufferable anime puns. It exclusively refers to women as waifus.

We’re probably not getting a new best friend out of this one.

By default, Amazon’s “Sample This Book” function pulls 10% of your total book for a sample. Here is the sample for How to Pick Up Girls at a Con. This is 10% of the entire book.

There’s 10% of everything the Night Kid$ know about women. Anyway, remember to wash your ass before you subscribe to the podcast here, and then there is no second thing before you leave us a review here.

I do think the best dating advice for these guys and most anyone is the same: be yourself and find someone who likes that. Do women like clean shaven guys? Or do they like guys with beards? Do women like ultra masculine guys? Or do they like someone more feminine? Do women want a guy into sports? Or more about books and video games? The answer is obviously women as a group like all of that stuff. Whichever one you are there are women into that. So be yourself and date someone who likes that. My fiance likes listening to podcasts with me and enjoys when I tell her about what I am reading. Not everyone likes that but I chose to marry someone who likes me. Its not that crazy a concept.

Just commenting again cause Ive been thinking about it, its remarkable how many people seem to be dating and often married to people they dont like. This whole pickup artist scene and this book basically boil down to how do you have sex with someone you dont like and who doesnt like you. You see it in their descriptions of the women where they feel so much contempt for the women theyre ostensibly trying to meet. You would think the idea of meeting women at a con is how to meet women with similar interests but theres absolutely no feeling of connect with someone you like cause you find them interesting and think its cool how you are into the same things. And yeah its also connected to self loathing since the core premise is how to fake being someone a woman would like since obviously they would never actually like you. Ive noticed with guys who date or have sex with a lot of women they tend to be guys who actually like women. They like talking to women. They like being around them. Its so basic but I am constantly baffled by how many people simply do not like and have contempt for the person they are with. And yeah I do think thats self loathing. They think theyve found the one moron dumb enough to be with them cause obviously nobody worth their time would ever want to be with them.

I think you're very very correct. My brother is VERY successful at getting laid, he has sex with a lot of women, but he always talks about then as people with whom he has fun dates and then fun sex, where both parts know how serious it is
