So fun fact; the previous series of the guy that wrote Haikyuu was a horror manga called Kiben Gakuha. The plot of the series is about a schoolgirl that seeks the help of someone that may or may not be a ghost to try and find her friend that was abducted by a serial killer. Why do I bring this up? Because if you look at the family of the opponents Number 1 cheering him on in the stands; you see the girl in the green sweater? That's the protagonist of Kiben Gakuha. Same look, same name, same volleyball playing brother, and first time appearing on screen since the authors last series never got an anime adaptation. [Theres even an omake where she gets her ghost freinds to pray for her brother during this match; makes you wonder what kind of universe Haikyuu is really set in XD]

You probably don't know this but mangaka of Haikyuu and mangaka of Kuroko no Basket are friends in real life and since I have seen both animes there are some similarities in both sport animes.
