This can be called the discount Pain arc. They tried to implement these elements in a poor way here. While I understand Funamushi having a moment of human weakness I'm sorry letting Iwabe and Denki live was just stupid on his part of being the leader of a fleet because while they're kids they're still ninja who could pose a threat to your plans so letting them live was just stupid. I feel they could have revealed this moment of human weakness in a different way that didn't seem so contrived. I do think the reveal of him having such a young son was brilliant though because of course Boruto would have more sympathy for a child but I doubt if his son was grown if Boruto would be struggling that much. I'm sorry Lucky but the Funato brought this upon themselves; they're the ones who waged war with a nation, killed many innocent people and while Boruto was involved Sieren attacked and went after him so he had every right to defend himself and in the end it was Kagura who slashed and injured Sieren not Boruto. Then to top it off Funamushi kills Kagura so he already got his revenge on the one who actually hurt her so everything after that was just him being bloodthirsty so him letting Iwabe and Denki go at that point seemed really strange. Boruto being blamed and hated also seems forced because he's not even the one who killed Funamushi Buntan did; seriously what were these writers on. The Funato want to stop that device the Mist has to control the seas but only for the sole purpose that they can keep pillaging islands and hurting innocents so they're not victims and they get no sympathy from me.
