I may be misinterpreting your reaction, but those recruits they showed didn’t train for 2 years. Based on the look in their eyes, the Drill Sergeant is assuming they went through hell and saw the horrors of the Titans 2 years ago. That’s why they don’t need to be insulted and yelled at.

And about Jean. He was furious because after he called Mikasa's hair beautiful, she immediately decided to remove most of it just because Eren ordered her. She does not care so much about Jean and his opinion that she will simply forget about him as soon as he leaves her. Jean then wipes his hand on Connie's clothes, because with that hand he shook hands with Eren, whom he now despises. These are the most obvious things, it is strange not to notice them.

I like Ibiki 2.0 he is a cool commander, reminds me of Full Metal Jacket too xD that would also be my guess that they are somewhere in Germany because of the environment and architecture and the people :) behold Sasha the Potato Girl, Sasha the Gluttonous, Sasha the Munchie! xD that ending reminded me of Spider-Man when he finally learned how to use his abilities and swing around :D I said this before but I guess it wasnt seen so Im gonna repeat that its completely fine to watch the opening and your own intro there is nothing obvious there its just things you know that are there so its all good :)

Yes a lot of these names are indeed German. The start of the opening is also being sung in German

Btw I just started watching AOT as well, very nice so far. I have not read the texts in between scenes, still understood the plot. I also read on so many occasions, before I started watching the series, that the fandom online is really toxic and aggressive about this show, far worse than Naruto or One Piece, etc. Judging from the comment section here alone, I'm starting to see that. Just enjoy the show, questions will get answered in time. It's really interesting so far!
