A Naruto is that little fishcake that is put into ramen with the swirl in it. If you noticed in that flashback with jiraiya and Nagato, jiraiya was eating a bowl of ramen. And if you remembered back when jiraiya was dying with the flashback of 4th Hokage reading that novel and saying he liked the character Naruto, jiraiya said that he was eating ramen and thought of it as he stumbled upon that Naruto fishcake and of course, minato was inspired to name his son Naruto. So Naruto is the main character in Jiraiya book but inspired by Nagato.

If you remember in episode 133 Minato asked Jiraiya in a flashback to name his son after this novel‘s main character. Jiraiya asked if he’s sure, he just came up with it while eating ramen. In this episode you see Jiraiya eating ramen while talking to Nagato, and theres this little spiral thingy in the soup that‘s called „Narutomaki“. Jiraiya looked at the Narutomaki in his soup and come up with a name that he thought is very fitting, since Nagato inspired Jiraiya so much and to honor him even more he gave the main character a name very similar to his student‘s. Naruto.

Remember the flashback when Minato was reading the book and picturing himself in it? He asked Jiraiya if he could name his son after the main character of the book, and that's exactly what he did.

I just don't like Naruto's answer and how he was able to persuade Nagato. The answer was nothing new and reminding Nagato of his naive ideals of the past should not have persuaded him. I am sure the creators just couldn't even come up with a good answer themselves, so they just come up with this way to get out of giving a good answer. But i'm calling them out. Its bogus.

Ah, excellent episode &lt;3 So well written. And how it all came together. But to break this awesome feeling I couldn't help to think how this would have played out if Jirayas book that will change the world, would have been Make up Tactics :D Imagine the conversation. Nagato: "I have decided, that the only way to bring peace to the world... is to create this thing I call Pornhub! That will cause people to use all their time on ChackraNet instead of fighting." Naruto: "You are wrong. I'm the chosen one of the Sexy Jutsu! The main perv of the book was called Naruto who had infinite stamina! So only I can create NarutoHub that will have the weirdest porn ever! Trust me!" Nagato: "Show me this jutsu!" [One sex scene later] Nagato: "I just came..... to believe in you!" I'm so sorry, I'm facepalming to my own message right now but I had to write this :D

Finally, my favorite episode in all of Naruto! This episode has so much to it. Amazing quotes by both Naruto and Nagato, seeing Nagato is the inspiration for Jiraiya's, and thus Naruto's, ideals, seeing Nagato actually smile for the first time, and the most well written turn in all of anime to see Nagato repent for his actions and believe in Naruto. I love everything about this episode, and I love that you got so invested and emotional during it!
