On the note of stylistic choices in the animation of this show—something I've always thought was a cool detail is that any industrial era technology is almost always rendered using CG instead of illustrations giving them this overtly unnatural and out of place feel in the world around them.

Korra in some ways is a better show. I think ATLA is an overall better show as far as a start to finish story. The first time I watched this Beginnings story I was so blown away. Korra is such a good show. Season 3 is the freaking best. I can't wait for yall to watch season of 3 of Korra. So good!

I loved this origin story! I can't wait for you to start book 3! It will take your breath away! Mind blowing good

The first third of ATLA is pretty rough and the last third cements it as incredible. I think I prefer Korra more, I've certainly rewatched it all the way through more. Not sure why. And yeah, Korra S3 might be the best single season of the franchise lol.

Great little two-parter, great reaction! The animation pops off, it retroactively explains a few things about the world (like why a Lion Turtle would randomly show up in ATLA). I cried at the end too, there's something about that final sequence followed by Wan dying an old man thinking he failed... then Raava reassuring him that humanity can't be fixed in one lifetime and he'll get a lot more chances. Lots of little details here too. The cycle of the avatar is the order in which Wan got the elements (fire > air > water > earth). Wan having a cat-deer companion = each avatar having an animal companion. The start of "bending" as a martial arts practice, and the people leaving the lion turtles becoming the first "fire-benders" / beginnings of each nation etc. Probably lots I'm forgetting.

Your confusion about the hate is understandable - the Wan episodes are some of the best of the franchise. It's been pretty amazing up until this point. The point of controversy among the Avatar fan base is mostly centered around how this season ends. And then seasons 3 and 4 are considered the best

Ngl I never gave Korra a chance, I hated the US 1920's vibe of republic city and it felt too far off from the world I knew and loved. The love triangle stuff was annoying too. But thanks to you guys I gave it another chance and boy these two episodes about Wan might be my favorite episodes so far, I loved learning about the first avatar, it was beautiful..

I hope you guys make a reaction video to Netflix's Avatar show please

I don’t know if you noticed this, but Korra is created to be the antithesis to Aang. She is so stubborn like Katara, so headstrong like Toph & so hot-headed (rn) like Zuko. They took the biggest personality traits from the three characters who are arguably more popular than Aang, and created Korra. Plus, Korra is arguably the most interesting character in all of Avatar, right behind Zuko

Was wondering when the next episode will be posted?
