Personally, this was my favorite episode. Seeing these two characters come together in more ways than one as a new mentor and student(or two halves of opposite coins). It's just awesome!

Honestly LOVE watching you get touched so deeply by this show as we all did. It is the one show I wish I could erase from my memory so I could experience it for the first time again. I have to settle for watching actual dozens of reactions to the show, and I've joined Patreons for precious few. Yours is one of them. You're in the home stretch. Stock up on tissues and put on your theater critique glasses, because some mind-blowingly-good cinematic shit is headed your way soon. The show does not let up on the gas. I hope you read this comment. Maybe a mod could direct you to it. Love you folks!

This is one of my top ten favourite ATLA episodes. Possibly even top 5.

Seeing how much you two love this show makes me really hope you do Korra reactions. Some people are gonna tell you not to waste time with Korra, I think you guys will really enjoy it. It’s not as good as ATLA, most shows aren’t, but there are aspects of Korra that I like more than ATLA.

Thank you for having such an amazing emotion reaction. The boiling rock is gonna break you

- So many scenes like the ones in this episode hit so hard because of everything that leads up to them, which is part of what makes the writing here so good. It's hard to convey to people exactly how and why this is one of the greatest shows ever made, it's something you really don't get until you experience it yourself. / : ] '

Oh, also, definitely watch the Legend of Korra. Some people get bent on it not exactly being "ALTA Part II", and the production was hurt by budget issues and outside pressures, but it's still a great show in it's own right.

I'll throw out a suggestion for Arcane if you want a good but shorter animated series between this and something longer. It's great!

Oh man, so hyped. Every episode in this whole batch of episodes since Black Sun straight till the very end is among the best of the best episodes, in an already great show. This particular episode does a really great job of helping re-contextualize firebending. For the first two seasons both the Fire Nation and the Firebenders came off as mostly monolithic and antagonistic. But this season starts by breaking down what the Fire Nation is truly like, and how it too is suffering under Ozai's rule, and now it breaks down the element itself, and how it is being misused by the Fire Nation for warfare. But in both cases, there remains something beautiful still waiting to be rediscovered, should the people causing the discord be removed from power.

The beauty of fire bending in its original form, balance being the point of the show, what a great episode

Bradley Hansen

one of my favorite details in the show is that zuko stops grunting when he firebends after he learns from the masters. His bending is no longer fueled by rage.

Sagit Bolat

Thats such a good catch! I've probably watched this show over 30 times and I've never noticed that shift. It's even in the episode itself where he is clearly grunting in the first half

Sagit Bolat

Completely agree! Being not as good as Avatar makes it still one of the best animated shows out there! Definitely far from a waste of time!

the boiling rock is pretty mild compared to the other hard hitting episodes
