You're in no way being too harsh. Rust is an ass, cold/nihilistic but mostly self destructive and very direct about his very real flaws. And at least tends to treat people with the respect they show him/deserve. Marty is a terrible person, hypocrite, and spectacularly insecure. Also beating up the kids in holding however shady their situation is, is widly illegal and immoral.

But Harrelson plays it great playing it! All the acting is. And yeah Maggie is just generally presented as at least a very decent, empathetic/nice person/wife/mother. Other than her one understandable moment of revenge.

Rust is who he is but he has redeeming qualities to an extent. One of my fav seasons. 2 and 3 are good as well but they're much better when not compared and watched 2,3, then 1 in my opinion

love the reaction! Don't be too hard on Cole. He lost a child so that mom who killed her babies hit him VERY hard! He was so filled with anger and disgust, he could not help it.

Chris Bruneau

Also, I personally think Cole held back in that fight, he could have killed Marty if he wanted to. He seemed like he was just trying to subdue him.

The whole point is that they're both deeply flawed people. Marty is a scumbag but Rust also rationalizes his own fear of relationships and loss with overwrought philosophizing. Somehow they meet in the middle to do their job. It's an uncommonly good bit of writing.

I mean, Rust explained who he is - he's the bad men who keep the worse men from the door.

Jesse Ewiak

Yeah, if you remember their previous standoff in the locker room, it's obvious Rust was letting Marty do whatever and basically waiting for an opening to shut things down, which the door throw basically was.

I dunno if this is bad or good info, But im here mainly for True. Seen last of us (awsome and trendy), don't care for Disney, avatar is not for me. But Goddamn can i rewatch this everytime i like a reactor. Also im writing this after taking a couple mushroom chocolates right now... might regret my comments in the morning

Me too. I was especially interested in Arianna reacting to True Detective. But man, Maple's faces sometimes during the show, gold! No honestly, they both great for this, but it's all Arianna for me. I also haven't watched the show in a long time, the writing is off the charts.

This series, especially the acting, is so great it causes like a visceral response. It's engrossing even when it horrifies. It's immersive even when it's repulsive. You love it even when it's heartbreaking.

Maggie didn't bail on the random dude at the bar because it wouldn't hurt Marty enough. She couldn't go through with it with a dude she didn't know. But she and Rust were lowkey vibing since 1995; he was a guy she felt a connection with, and he always let his walls down around her. She ended up using that against him for sure though.

You only need to separate laundry by colors if you're using detergent or bleach that's so strong that it's damaging your clothes regardless. Don't even get me started on dryer sheets...

Ladies, thank you for posting. I really really enjoy watching!!

The worst part about TD S1 is that no other show tops it. I feel spoiled for life for having watched this. It's phenomenal writing+acting+filmmaking.

I pray to god you guys watch The Sopranos. It's the greatest piece of art ever created.
