YES 🙏 Thank you

Although Rust is a pessimist, I was disappointed in his comments at the tent revival scene, particularly his insinuation that faith is incompatible with reason/science. A challenge to that hypothesis can be seen in the life and thought of Father Georges Lemaitre, a Catholic priest and formulator of the Big Bang Theory. Granted, Lemaitre would preach a VERY different message than the tent revivalist!

That music slowly building up... you don't even notice it at first but it increases tension and things keep ratcheting up right to the end. Hard not to marathon this show with episodes ending like that

I don’t agree with Rust’s comments personally, but I think its 100% the take I expect from his type of character. And it’s also a pretty common place to end up after growing up around intense southern evangelical religious people and bouncing off. Personally sure, I think there can be a place for both and consider myself Christian (Episcopal) if not that actively practicing while also being very much an engineer at heart but I grew up in the south east and have also seen the damage that can be done by the hypocrisy and judgement of too many evangelicals. For what it’s worth, even if I tend to feel little in common with southern evangelicals, I always took the one portrayed here as relatively genuine in his belief and desire to help people.

Hart has a pretty incredible lack of self awareness mixed with self loathing and projection. Harrelson does a great job playing him, but wow is it infuriating to watch him be so shitty. Especially when they really characterize her as being so much more caring/thoughtful with connecting with his very broken man of a partner just by listening.

Also the show is an anthology, every season is entirely unrelated. No shared characters or story. And yeah the first one was by far my favorite, don’t really remember the other 2 seasons either way to be honest.

Yeah, I could see that. It's just that since the character demonstrates himself to be a very deep thinker in this series, I thought he might be more circumspect in general, notwithstanding the particularities of this evangelicals/Bible Christians of this region and the moral corruption on display in the series. It seems to me that he does seem to have something of a "conversion" on this front later on.

a little note to be aware of: US TV shows are sped up by 4% when shown in Europe, so they'll be out of sync for anyone watching along from there

DB is "dead body," I believe.

Thanks for letting me know. I can ask that when people tell me they're having occasional sync issues
