This man gave us Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber in a single year. And then gave us movies like this one and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. One of the greatest performers we'll ever see.

Carrey is I think still an underrated actor, especially when doing serious or at least less funny roles. Eternal Sunshine is one of my favourite movies, and I loved The Truman Show too. If you haven’t seen it, I’d suggest maybe getting Maple to watch the series called Kidding that he did with Michel Gondry a couple years ago, he plays a Mr Rogers-type, beloved children’s tv entertainer who is trying to deal with the death of one of his sons, whilst still having to live up to this jovial, pacifistic, warm public persona. They only made two series so it’s a quick watch, but it’s got loads of Gondry’s “in camera” magic in it too, and Carrey is great in it!
