Looking forward to seeing your reaction to this, my favourite Nolan film after The Prestige. Also I think the score is Hans Zimmer’s masterpiece.

It’s awesome that you enjoyed it so much. Honestly, Nolan gets a lot of shit for his films being all surface and having no depth and emotions, which is just patently not true. He just comes at it from a different viewpoint. The scene of him watching back the messages after they lost 23 years, and realising he’s missed his kids growing up is heartbreaking. I saw this in IMAX which was incredible, between the visuals and the score it was such a good experience. I still listen to the score on vinyl now and then. If you haven’t seen The Fountain I would suggest that as a good companion piece to this. Similar themes of love transcending time, and arguably a score that’s just as good as this one, performed by Kronos Quartet and Mogwai. Also if you want crazy but great time travel films, Time Crimes and Predestination are close to perfect.
