Its like the story of Santa. Every kid(writer) heard a different story, but about the same character. Some are shit (looking at you M Night...-_-) and some are good (live action), but nothing will compare to the true legend of the original (animated), because you can only capture lightning in a bottle once. (opinion time) I think the story is actually very good when treating it as its own continuity, because a lot of what you guys said is extremely valid when doing a direct one to one comparison in our heads, but also i don't think that the delivery would have been as palatable in the animation>live action conversion. Given that what we are seeing is post edit, we also don't know if they DID try doing some of the stuff mentioned, but then edited it differently/rewrote it due to it not hitting the same etc etc. At the end of the day, i hope you guys find a way to enjoy it more. Thanks for all the content, you rock.

I remember reading the fellowship of the Ring right before seeing the first movie, and it completely ruined it for me. I couldn't keep the timeline straight. The characters had shifted in so many subtle ways, though they were often saying the same lines. I was just confused. The Moria sequence seemed laughable to me because of the mismatch. I watched it again a few months ago after not reading the book in a decade and I had a completely different opinion of it.
