New army, silver militia, Markarovs. That’s my order of interest.

TheDrake

Story idea: Rachel’s personal assessments of group members (minus the MC).

Paradigox

I really want a story about the New Army! Especially since Lopez and (for those doing that playthrough) the MC are involved.

daikron

any ideas for love interests to catfight over you? Kinda like Mass effect or Kotor2 if you pursue more than one.

Dawn Dean

Is there actually appeal to that? Personally s a woman, or as a lesbian, I'm not at all interested in the idea.

daikron

well it kinda plays into the concept of what happens if you have multiple love interests in other rpgs, whether male or female. For kotor 2 it was the disciple and atton rand fighting over the female protagonist and the handmaiden and visas marr for the male. Similar concepts for mass effect.

daikron

Also the walking dead had a similar love triangle. And if kirkman didnt halfass the ending something between Carl Grimes, Lydia and Sophia wouldve taken place. Does add a layer to relationship management and decision consequences.

jimdattilo

You don't need to increase your amount. I'll add it to the list for September. If enough people want to see it, I'll write it. I'll write a few choices for characters.

Dawn Dean

bad writing, or male-focused society POV, then? Every relationship I've been in with a woman IRL has been a lot more talking & working through emotions. There's good & bad about that. I can tell you I have seen straight women do/say something that would never be tolerated in relationships with another woman. (Who knows if it's society that encourages that behaviour to be "ok"?) My experience has been that higher "emotional maturity" is expected a lot more amongst queer women. Vying for attention and/or snark when around the other is far more likely to happen than catfights.

jimdattilo

I'm not sure if you're addressing me or not but most writing in these style of games and most romantic or erotic games tends to heighten reality. My lesbian friends always say their relationships are more emotional and involve more communication than straight couples. There is a line between stereotyping and writing reality that can be tricky to navigate.

jimdattilo

I'l add that my writing tries to be inclusive which does make it a bit harder to write from a woman's POV or man's POV. I don't assume the MC's gender unless it is Tommy or Rosie who are locked.

Dawn Dean

sorry phone connection issues, I was trying to respond to daikron. But still, thank you for your response!

Dawn Dean

even for non-binary, we've all had society & backgrounds shape our natural responses.. So maybe options to react more dismissive, communicative, etc, & the MC's tendencies to select one reaction or another could influence the RO's responses? (I'm not sure how labour intensive the coding, but I've played paths elsewhere where a character's responded something tracked like "you're usually more optimistic" or "of course you'd say something sarcastic".) But then, I always enjoy replaying *all* the outcomes with different MCs in the same world. :D and plenty of "heightened reality" to be had with emotions that don't actually get physical , right?

daikron

well it is a part of society. Along with soap dramas, it does happen. Rick grimes and his brother fighting is also a example, wouldn't say its male focused or any gender focused. Just a certain element in rpgs and stories. And i would like to see it included if possible. Can be the same for either options. A mmo called Star wars the Old Republic also had similar concepts for both genders with 2 romance options for each.

daikron

PS im in your patreon for 10 now Jim. Hope youll include this and also ill be sure to follow your progress. Any ETA on the release date for part 3?

jimdattilo

Since it is ultimately going to be a part of the game, I can include love triangle content in next month's beta of Part 3. That way I can tailor it to the MC, and people who are not interested do not have to read it. I can also conduct a poll on which characters to include first.

jimdattilo

We were typing at the same time! See below about the love triangle. Thank you for your patronage. Part 3 will take a while. It is looking like mid-2020.

daikron

Alright ill be looking forward to it. Triple a game developers like bioware and Cd project red have had it so hopefully it adds a layer to social management. With Madisons aggressive yet self sufficient nature, do you think shes option for this?

Dawn Dean

daikron - True, it exists. I was merely concerned about continuing tropes that games often use of women. who knows if those writers had any women on staff, or were even asked if it felt natural? same exact event for another gender in a game doesn't mean it's well represented. even some female writers write about male MC often blushing & acting softer than some readers would prefer, for example. In most societies, absolutely there's a gender focus reflected in many games/books. It takes effort to make it natural for both.

daikron

True, hopefully Jim can write a story that meets both our expectations. Safe havens always felt like a great read so im sure Jims up to it with how part 2 was.

Michael Bracken

Speaking of romance, if the MC is a college student, Madison should become romance-able for part 3. She is awesome and if she is a jr/senior and the Mc is a college student year undeclared then it wouldn’t be much of a leap. High school girls date college guys all the time. I say girls to guys because typically high-school boys are less mature and I imagine college girls feel high-school girls are too immature. Correct me if I’m wrong!
