The parasite took over a body, but it may not turn them into the undead? Meanwhile, the military is still looking for survivors after a year of outbreak...

im not familiar with part one think found you sometime after you made it (ill try and search for it after this) but a few thoughts on none lethal parasites/semi symbiotic parasites in general as well as maybe this scenario 1 in this case they might be able to protect against the zombie virus given they don't seem to be harmed by it and they seem to prefer human hosts that haven't been zombified but are able to use a zombie as a host without apparent harm so they might able to give that trait to hosts so they remain a better host. potentially able to control some zombies or at least prevent them from attacking a host. 2 i could see some parasites in fictional characters like this could cause some types of physical and mental changes to the hosts body even if removed that might be be worth the work on the parasites part to make the host better suited to their needs which may in some cases be beneficial or neutral to the host. especially if remains in the host for a longer period of time. 3. i also think when it comes to sex parasites in hentai stories i think the two reasons they might encourage the hosts to have sex with others is. one as a potential means to infecting other hosts and the other is encouraging them to reproduce so they have more potential hosts for offspring of the parasite. possibly also taking idea number 2 consideration might change the host to better be able to be a vector to spread its young but also produce more potential hosts.

accidentally clicked delete instead of edit so semi repost of my self reply finished the first part and it does seem possible that one reason why the female zombie that had been a host was different then the other zombies was she had been a few minutes before infection a host to the worm so could've been enough time to cause some differences to a none host to alter the zombie mutation. plus given that same worm after entering another human didn't spread the zombie virus to the new host Shizuka Marikawa i think least my theory of them being at least themselves fully immune to the zombie virus and potentially able to protect a host from it, is possibly partly correct, just the host would need to be a host for long enough. given the host zombie was clearly different then the other zombies given didn't actually seem to be experiencing the rapid partial decay of the others even though clearly had undergone some mutation and some zombification but clearly not a standard one (of course also likely so its more obvious was the specific woman who had been infected but can also give a in story reason as well for the difference). though if the worm is in a host for a certain amount of time might also be altered in someway maybe not a negative as becoming a zombie but given it doesn't seem we've seen a worm in a host for for that long we aren't sure what long term effects would be.
