Depth good, complexity bad. I can plan all the features in the world.. but that doesnt mean much if none of it makes any sense..

these early designs are far from acceptable, but hopefully they'll help as I talk about the ideas I've got for this project.

this time is all about the stat menu on the right. half the game is about simulation, which means you'll be juggling basic needs as the adventure unfolds. they're not just to stay alive though, but to keep yourself healthy and ready for action. the white lines inside each bar represent a long-term version of each basic need. you dont -have- to live well, but the goal is to  give you a good reason to splash out on the finer things every once in a while. 

first up, rest. all sleep is not equal, rough nights or working too hard will have an effect on your learning and awareness as well as making you irritable. (** moods will be important, changing how your heroine acts on her own. it'll effect dialogue interactions as well how aggressively she acts in combat - for better or worse) 

much like sleep, getting good food will do you much better than eating raw sewer animals every day. too much cheap junk will leave you emaciated and quick to tire. but also, trying to eat 20 cheese wheels for inventory space will leave you feeling bloated, making you move slower in travel and combat

Bathroom breaks are there because not only 'duh' but they'll (hopefully) keep you moving around, breaking up the monotony and deterring grinding (I dont plan to go the full voyeur route with these.. but, I'm sure someone will talk me into it eventually..) anyway, the long term for this one is hygiene. getting covered with -stuff- and not bathing will make you reek, effecting how people treat you as well as your growth in local reputation.

next up, ero need. the basic stuff explains itself. the alt however puts a little spin on things. it'll act as both libido and sensitivity stat. as time passes, your ero levels will climb (or drop) towards the pip. but.. high libido isnt a flat goal,  decadence or violation will effect your sensitivity in further encounters. 

the last need is thermal, yes you can run around in a chainmail bikini to max out attractiveness stats, but freezing to death in the snow seems about right. (so, this will hopefully give you a reason to shed armor in the heat and seek shelter in the cold.)


anyways, I think that'll do it for this update post. I'll get to the attributes next time. and I'll talk about the main hud bars in the combat outline :)
