the reason they were unsure about if season 8 was gonna be the end was also because a lot of the cast didn't wanna do the show anymore sophia bush and james lafferty in particular and they only agreed to come back under the condition that season 9 would be the last season and also shortened!

The Dan/Nathan scene always makes me cry. :(

As dog shit as this season was (and I mean dog shit), a 3 week break is too much Joe, we promise season 9 is better 😭😭 I'm ranting about this season, it was so disappointing: It started off terribly with those ghost episodes of Clay and Quinn, along with one of the worst love triangles we've had on the show with Mia and Alex fighting over CHASE, but had a few decent episodes of characters like Nathan, Haley, and Brooke just adulting which was really cool. Julian's mum was a nice surprise, not too annoying, not too nice, a fun character who didn't bring much drama. I understand the slice-of-life type storylines they were going for but it really should've stopped there, because what followed was nonsensical. Brooke nearly dies (in what was a traumatic but exciting episode) and then everything is fine for her, in fact, 3 episodes later she says she's not feeling any excitement in her life??? and dresses up as a superhero and gains super speed... (I won't even get started on Jamie's lack of trauma) they pass the trauma of the accident onto Julian, Nathan, and randomly Clay, but not really because we don't see any moments of anxiety for them regarding Jamie or Brooke's safety. They just threw it in when it was useful for a whacky bridge scene. The Ian Kellerman story is decent but also just not at the same time, I think I was just looking for hope so I accepted it. He was a boring character and the acting made me cringe at times, but honestly, I enjoyed August and liked how they allowed Ian's story to end with him not changing, I liked how they had Nathan playing out his feelings towards his dad through his relationship with the Kellermans, and all of that leading to this episode where he goes to the diner is worth it. I would've much preferred the storylines in this episode to play out much sooner in the season. Instead of Quinn running around being painfully unfunny, they could've had her helping Haley open the diner while she was pregnant. Imagine if her storyline was losing the gallery after the shooting and then using the cafe as a new place for her art or something. Quinn and Clay were done so dirty, this is not how you treat characters in their SECOND season on the show. The best parts of the season were: Haley being Haley, Brooke with Sylvia, Braley getting a lot of content, and Chuck and Chase bonding, but that's it, needless to say, it's the worst

Season 9 has so much drama, but still gives so much closure. We knew season 9 would be the last season and specifically that James Lafferty wanted to work on other things.

I feel like you'll think season 9 is the 3rd or 4th best season behind 1,3, and 4

I agree with Joe’s ranking here. Usually I rate things higher like to me season 3 is a perfect ten for me, but I agree with this season being a 5 lol I kept thinking this episode is so bad! Until the end and I liked the few things they did at the end and even got a tear in my eye when they showed Jamie doing Lucas’s walk on the iconic bridge. Loved that so much. And our theme song was back and it made my heart feel so full lol!

6 and 7 are phenomenal too, 6 is my favorite of all of them followed by 4 and 3

2023-06-13 20:56:18 i like s9 i feel like it brings back the vibe season 4 had when you didnt know what was coming with peyton and the stalker and all the side characters were involved and had somewhat of a meaning to the main characters or the vibe of season 3 with dan going through the guilt and the dark thoughts. Season 9 really brings out that vibe of one tree hill where your eyes are glued to the screen. I love the drama it brings that was lacking in season 8. It just makes you really think that s8 is that one season that doesnt fit in oth series. Like i hate that some of the best moments are in season 8 like brooke finally getting a baby or her wedding or jamie doing lucas iconic bridge scene.
