2023-02-01 00:32:31 Finally able to sit down and write a more longer comment about some things I love about this episode - I just really like how much Light’s psyche has clearly deteriorated over the course of the series. Seeing him go from this more chill but intelligent character to full on Psychotic character really showed how much power can change a person. When light started with the Death Note I truly think it was to rid evil but as the series went on that power corrupted Light so much and I love how well the voice actor conveys that. Especially when he is telling the audience how he “won” You can just tell he is completely gone. I think him having this huge ego is what ultimately cost him. I think he began to make more and more mistakes as his mind began to inflate with this god like mentality. - Near was so awesome in this episode, I just loved his little smile when he took off the mask. His plan was also so good, him noticing that pattern. I just love him and he is even better in the Manga. - Also really liked how you noticed that Light still has this sort of respect for L how he had this distaste for near when he wore the mask of L, I really do think L meant something to light, what that was I’m not even entirely sure. But I just love that choice they made to add those lines in. -I just love the part when Light is explaining his plan, how everything just froze. Some of my favorite scenes in all of death note is when it goes into explaining all of Light plans when other shows do it it just seems like a big cop out most of the time but when death note does it it’s just so good, it reminds me of when he was explaining the trap desk drawer to Ryuk in ep 3 I think it was and how that blew my mind when I first watched it lol. So good. - The music was also so good, I just love when the soundtrack is so loud and intense then will just cut to silence it’s so effective, they know when to use the music and when to not use it and just let the scene breathe Overall just an amazing penultimate episode, adding just the right amount of tension, having the story not reveal much to you so you just have a slight feeling Light will lose but still having this uncertainty.
