In s1 with Nimueh we had a scene where she and Uther basically spoke about Arthur's birth- in reference to the idea one life must be taken to create one, and Uther said he didn't think she would take his wife, and Nimueh basically said he was a hypocrite because he didn't care who died. I think Morgause's intentions were to alienate Arthur from Uther and make Arthur more willing to embrace magic because magic 'helped' him and he discovered he was a product of magic. I love this episode because it's the first time we se Arthur truly see Uther as the villain other people do. And also Merlin being responsible for Arthur hating magic again and the look of heartbreak on his face. Imagine loving your best friend that much but knowing if he knew you properly he'd probably kill you right then and you helped him think like that.
