in my eyes stefan and care have had a build up since episode one, it was a matter of when it would actually be put together. The scene between her and stefan in the beginning in the dormroom reminded me of the earlier seasons of delena bickering on the plans and alaric awkwardly watching them knowing something is going on between the two but they keep denying or pushing it away.
