v4, Chapter 18

Diaz’s Regrets
When life had settled down, an anonymous letter arrived.

"Sister-in-law?”

I couldn't even call her my sister anymore, but I had met her a few times. While it appeared that I had cut ties with Dania on the surface, the truth was that I hadn't.

I was surprised to receive a letter at this time. I immediately imagined that something must be up because the person who delivered the letter was Lady Anesia.

The contents of the letter were something I wished I could unhear. Apparently, Dania and Shepherd had caused trouble and engaged in something resembling marriage fraud. They were being demanded to pay compensation, but they had refused.

Not only that, but it seemed she, who was related to them by blood, paid the compensation in place of them for assaulting the Duke's son-in-law.

"She had no obligation to pay."

"Yes, but she couldn't overlook it as her sister."

She was a responsible person, and with her kind personality, it was no surprise that she got involved in such a situation.

"So, I had her completely severed ties with Dania. I provided assistance under the condition that she won't have any further involvement with her in the future."

"Thank you."

"This is a business deal."

Even though she said that, there was no way Sister-in-law could afford to pay compensation to the Count’s and Duke's families. She would have ended up in dire straits, and other nobles would have looked down on her.

Thanks to Lady Anesia's consideration, she was saved.

"I've kept my name anonymous in this letter. We'll meet later."

"No, right now..."

I was sure that person didn't think it was a good idea to meet in this situation.
Besides, I had too many enemies now, and I didn't want to risk antagonizing any faction unnecessarily.

"Lady Anesia, could you grant me a bold request?"

"Yes, of course."

On the family register, she might be a stranger, but to me, she was my beloved sister-in-law.

Before long, Lady Anesia returned to the mansion. However, things wouldn't end peacefully like this.

If Dania and Shepherd’s anger was directed at me, it was still manageable.

But I had to consider the worst-case scenario.

"Dee, what's wrong?"

"Your Majesty, how did you enter from there?"

Did he deceive another servant again? Although the palace was close, the king couldn't just leave the palace.

"What is it? If there's something, speak."

"No..."

Talking to him wouldn't solve anything.
It would probably make the situation worse, and the more radical factions would exacerbate the situation.

I wanted to proceed with caution, but I didn't want to hurt more people.

v4, Chapter 19

Pest Control Plan
After finishing our work, we held a meeting with the usual members.

"Anesia, you did a great job."

"Not at all."

How many times have we used this secret key?
But it was necessary.

"I set the stage with you, but it seems a bit too lenient."

"Your Majesty, it's necessary to make her taste true hell."

We decided to execute our plan for making Dee suffer.

"It's troublesome to stay in the territory. We'll use her sister, Lady Anita, so that Dee doesn't have to resort to underhanded methods."

"Dee will choose the worst if necessary."

Even if that were the case, I didn't want Dee to mimic such a heartless act.

"Yes, he understands the essence of things... however."

"Just destroying her mansion and throwing her out is too lenient."

"Yes, it's too lenient."

Oriana had a more terrifying expression than a demon, but it was their fault for making her an enemy.

"At this point, I want to put that idiot on trial and end her as a person."

"Of course."

"Me too."

Among us, Lady Anesia was probably the most rational.
She suppressed her emotions, even though it wouldn't be unreasonable to hate them the most.

Impressive.

"Your Majesty, I will use any means to bring that woman more suffering."

Lady Anesia, who had gone to the territory to stage a play for that woman, conspired with us to expose her crimes.

We temporarily allowed her to claim Ranford territory and then forcibly expelled that pair on the grounds of illegal trespassing.

We found items hidden in the unused mansion on Ranford territory. But it was still weak evidence.

We couldn’t corner those two thoroughly just yet.

"I had guards assigned to the sister, just in case."

"Yes, that woman's audacity is terrifying."

I thought about putting her down like a sick animal, but it was impossible.
However, at this stage, her crimes weren't severe enough, and the actions against Miss Marie wouldn't hold up in court without her admission. That's why we devised a plan.

"We have given her some money, so what will that idiot do next?"

"She will come to the Capital."

"And then she will direct her anger at those two."

I couldn't help but doubt what kind of mentality she had, still wishing to reconcile with Dee.
From her perspective, she probably believed Dee wanted to reconcile.

I've always thought her delusions were strong, but now she's completely lost the plot.

Those two, freed from her spell, would never be under her control again, but we didn't know what measures she might take.
So we had to be cautious.

v4, Chapter 20

The Parenting Henry
Today, the sky is clear, and my stomach is on the verge of collapsing.

"How do they taste, Henry?"

"Ah, they're sweet."

"I incorporated fruit instead of sugar."

We were currently devising sweets that even infants can eat.
The melting-in-the-mouth bolo cookies were a great success, but we wanted to make something more nutritious.

By the way, we didn't use honey either.

"These cookies are truly delicious. I would love to request them for the next Royal tea party."

"Duke, these are children's sweets."

"But these bolo are being served every day as His Majesty's sweets."

"Bolo are…”

No way!
Are you eating children's sweets?!

"By the way, His Majesty's favorite are caramel tarts."

"Caramel tarts..."

One of the simplest sweets among commoners.
So he likes something like that!

"Apparently, it's a childhood memory, it was the first time a friend made something for him.”

I had a bad feeling.
Childhood memories and friends.

I didn't want to think about it.
Moreover, right now, those people were all in a meeting.

They must be devising a dreadful plan.

"It's really delicious. Miss Marie is a recipe genius."

"Not really..."

"Don't be so modest. You are popular even in high society."

Lady Eliana seems to have regained her energy. It's hard to believe she used to be shy and frail just a while ago.
Now, she has gained confidence and can retort to those who used to ridicule her.
She was always intelligent, but there must have been a change in her mindset.

"Manma!"

"Ma~!"

The two infants, Cyril and Elysion, who wanted cookies, reached out from my lap.

"Manma!"

"They eat so well. But they had enough... Hey, don't give them any more."

Cyril handed bolo to Young Lord Elysion next to me.
These two really get along well.

"Mhm, Henry, you're better at taking care of babies than maids."

"Yeah... if it were a maid, they would cry."

It's not something to get too upset about, but it's hard to be fully happy.

But if thinking about the meeting that's probably taking place in the palace is causing me to be down, it's better to be comforted.

Marie probably doesn't know.

When His Majesty the King and Lady Oriana gather for tea and discuss matters, it's when they're planning something terrifying.

At this timing, it's probably a plan to eliminate that idiotic mother and child, but with His Majesty and Lady Oriana involved, it's likely they're planning something worse than death.

But I haven't told Marie because I don't want to burden her too much, and it's still in the planning stage.
Their plan hasn't been executed yet... is what I wanted to believe, but I underestimated them.

I didn't realize that the revenge drama had already begun when Mother bought the Ranford territory.
