Starting To Deal With White Rank Equipment (3)
A certain new adventurer’s Point of View
Shellche and I discussed and decided to purchase this armor.
We both had a budget of 1000 Rubies, and it was better than having nothing but basic clothing.
This equipment seems to be crafted using a technique called Magic Tailoring, and it fits perfectly on our skin without the need for adjustments.
Shellche was already impressed by that alone, so it must be a great find.
Furthermore, when we heard that we had around 500 Rubies left in our budget, the shopkeeper recommended something.

"If that's the case, why not upgrade your weapons too? They seem quite worn from what I can see."

Yeah, our weapons were already in a sorry state, and on top of that, we couldn't afford regular maintenance or sharpening at the blacksmith's, so they were really battered.
The fact that the shopkeeper noticed this is impressive, but is there a place where we can buy equipment for 500 Rubies?

"Well, why don’t you decide after going there. Tanya, the shop will be fine even without me, right?"

"Leave the finances and inventory management to me. Have a safe trip, Lady Lily."

Listening to their conversation, it turns out that this shopkeeper was the owner of this store.
She's around 16, just like me.
At first, I wondered why she was carrying such a big bag inside the store, but it seems that the bag was filled with materials inherited from her mentor.
To sneak into the store, you'd need to bypass the four Red Rank Adventurers who also act as escorts, but she always keeps the bag with her as she wants to have it on hand as much as possible.
In addition, there were two more shop assistants inside the store.
One of them was wearing a sword, so she was probably one of the guards.
In fact, when we left the Spider's Silken Cloud, she also came out with the owner.
I didn't notice it inside the store, but there was a spider-type monster near the owner as well.
The owner must a Tamer, and this spider is her familiar.
I didn't get to know its abilities, but being a spider, it can probably produce spider silk to catch prey and has a huge body that can carry the owner around.
It's probably quite strong.

Guided by the owner of the Spider's Silken Cloud, we arrived at a blacksmith called The Gleam of Molten Iron.
This place seemed to be affiliated with the Adventurers’s Guild, as many adventurers have gathered here.

"Excuse me, is Teysa here?"

"She’s here... Wait, isn't that Lily? What's up during the daytime?"

"Hannon, these are children who bought White Rank armor at my shop. Their weapons are in terrible shape, so I thought maybe you could help."

"White Rank, huh? We mainly deal with Black Rank and above, though.”

"Well, we can work something out."

"Let me hear you out first. What are your names, girls?"

"I'm Ulla!"

"My name is Shellche."

"I see. What are your preferred weapons and tactics?"

"Well, not so much a preferred weapon... Both of us only have battered swords. We just try to hit monsters when the chance comes..."

"I see. No tactics, I guess. Truly White Rank adventurers."

She nodded in understanding in a weird situation, but the storekeeper, Hannon, went to the back and brought back a stick with a metal weight attached to the end.
Is this also a weapon?

"This is called a mace. It's like a club with spikes on it. Normally, the whole thing is made of metal, but because it's for White Rank, I specially made one with a sturdy oak handle and an embedded iron chunk for balance. It's well-balanced, has good striking power, and decent durability. I can't buy back used weapons, but it's perfect for a disposable weapon. How about 300 Rubies each?"

300 Rubies... it was within our budget, and if it was just a stick with an iron chunk, it should have sufficient attack power.
Both Shellche and I decided to buy one without hesitation.
We also bought a shield made of a wooden board with leather stretched over it, which was easy to handle.
This one cost 100 Rubies.
It seems the leather was from a Large Frog, but it was layered five times, making it a good disposable shield.
We'll make do with this equipment for now and buy proper gear when we have more money.
