Patreon Story Update #3 - Warrior Village (Patreon)
Content
Welcome travelers!
We have been working on the game’s setting, lore and story for quite a while now and it is time we present it to you.
We will not spoil the main plot of the game with these, but spoilers concerning the setting and backstory are inevitable. So if you prefer to explore the world completely un-spoilered once the game is done, do not read any further!
Today, let's talk about…
Warrior Village
Protectors of the north
Located on a bone-strewn hill in the open plains and without any defensive walls, the warrior village can already be seen from afar - almost as if it dared any enemy to come closer and find out for themselves why the warriors seem so fearless.
Approaching the village, one passes a long line of giant stone statues, depicting great warriors of old. They mark the border towards the south, a relic of the human-lizard war, which was eventually won by chief Kumaan, founder of the warrior clan. He succeeded in driving the lizards out of the northern lands and into the desert, though he could not capture the City of Adûn, where the lizards still hold the pass through the mountains to this day. The warrior village serves as a permanent lookout watching over that pass, ready to react, should the lizards ever try to retake the human lands.
The current chief of the village claims to be a direct descendant of Kumaan and looking at the fearsome tiger Kerpali, it is easy to believe. His fierce warriors are the tribals’ main line of defense against all potential threats, be it the lizards, dangerous wildlife, ferals, cannibals or bandits. They readily lend their protection to the peaceful folk of Lake Village and Pearl Village for any goods the villagers are able to give in return.
Besides hunting and crafting gear from their trophies, the warriors have also perfected the art of forging weapons and armor out of salvaged metal from the ancient rescue pods, of which they claim the right of ownership.
Maya calls this village her home, having spent half her life there after her banishment from the Sky Village. Max, on the other hand, will have to work hard to earn the stern warriors’ respect. The protectors of the tribes do not take kindly to outsiders…
That’s it for today - next time, we will tell you more about a different important location of Kerpal, so stay tuned! As always, thanks for your support and we hope you enjoy these little peeks into the lore of the game :)
