My friend Amber was a brand-new gamer when she played Delta Green for the first time. I ran Music From a Darkened Room, using a playtest version of the new Delta Green rules. Her first character was possessed and (SPOILER ALERT) died protecting the house from the other Agents. Her second character (SPOILER ALERT) died inside 10 minutes of joining the team, made to cut her own throat in the same damn house.

Amber was hooked. Delta Green is still her favorite game.

Her third character was Penelope Hawtrey. Hawtrey joined the team when they went to Death Valley for Future/Perfect, Part 1. Hawtrey lasted. In Future/Perfect, (SPOILER ALERTS) she spent long nights dreaming of Pnakotis, and pursued knowledge there for what seemed like lost weeks, night after night. She died and was sent into a new body. She died again destroying the threat, which reset the timeline. She found herself back in her own body, months before, the whole Future/Perfect affair having never happened except in the Agents' memories.

Hawtrey was already a pill-addled wreck when Delta Green called her for her "first" mission, Operation FULMINATE. Her longest-lasting teammate, who went through Future/Perfect with her, died in Operation DEAD LETTER, leaving her the de facto and unwilling leader of the team. She moved through operation after operation, until her team's case officer couldn't take it any more. He said he could pull strings to take her out of the field and make her an analyst for the Program.

Hawtrey is now semi-retired. Amber is playing a new character. But we'll see what shape things take as she sees more and more of what happens at the top.

You can check out Hawtrey's current character sheet below.

I enjoyed those actual plays and would enjoy hearing more from your local group, Shane. It's fun to see from the sheet how her character developed. That SAN of 50 is better than I expected!

How do you use weapon black market? It's a fun sheet, tells a lot about the character

Thanks. I mean to edit and post a bunch more audios from our campaign when I have time. There's so much dog and kid noise and personal side-chatter that editing them takes an awful lot of time.

If the player wants to get an illegal weapon or bomb or something, ordinarily I call that a Criminology skill roll to know where to go for the right kind of crime and how to ask for it. But I also allow it as Special Training with Charisma, without the Criminology skill, if a character learns that particular slice of the criminal underground.
