So... I hijacked my family's vacation this past weekend and made my way to Pasadena for JPL's open house. Once there, I ran around in child-like glee for the entire day, as if I were at Disneyland for the first time. It was quite exciting and inspiring... but I am left with this nagging sense that NoodleFeet needs to have more toes.
You see... I found the very robot that Noodle's retractable toes were inspired by. It is an asteroid drill that can cling to the surface of rocks with hundreds of radial micro-toes. It was just a glorious in person, and I was even allowed to fondle the mechanism myself!
All and all... more fuel for the fire... and a shirt... I got the shirt... heh
